Anne Marie Duff, the British actress is set to make her Broadway debut in a new production of Macbeth. She will don the role of Lady Macbeth from October at the Lincoln Center Theatre in New York. The actress is currently playing the role of Nina in Strange Interlude, a Eugene O Neill 1920’s classic and has earned rave reviews for the role at the National Theatre in London.
In fact not only Duff, but a host of other British actors are making their Broadway debuts this autumn. Daniel Craig, his wife Rachel Weisz and Rafe Spall are starring in Betrayal which is Harold Pinter’s love affair play. Orlando Bloom is making his Broadway debut in a modern rendition of Romeo and Juliet. White actors will be cast as Montagues and black actors as Capulets in this version directed by David Leveaux. It was six years ago that Bloom made his professional stage debut.
